NETWORKING EVENTS

The Chapter hosts its best of the Best of the Best Bowling Tournament annually at various Bowling establishments to foster good morale amongst the transportation teams while raising money for its professional development programs. Teams include representatives from TWU Local 291, GSAF, DTPW Bus Maintenance, DTPW Operations and other divisions within DTPW as well as from the Fort Lauderdale Chapter. The Tournament includes trophies and bragging rights to the winning team for a year and is a great time of family fun.

 

This year, the chapter introduced the Spooky Spectacula as a fun-filled Halloween Celebration via Zoom. Participants dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes and danced to the music of the DJ for a worthy cause while in the privacy of their homes. The event included an actual bidding auction for several items to benefit the Chapter’s Covid-19 Relief Fund.
The New Member & Member Promotion Networking Mixer was established as a means for the chapter to come together in an informal setting and officially welcome the New Members for the year as well as celebrate the promotions of existing members. The event is normally held at a minority-owned restaurant to foster support of local businesses and the growth of minority community. It’s a fun-time for all.

The Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) was created to provide a forum for minority professionals in the transportation industry. COMTO’s membership includes individuals, groups, transportation agencies, private sector corporations, non-profit organizations, and Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs).
