HOST OF COMTO NATIONAL EVENTS

COMTO Miami AWARDS ACCOMPLISHMENTS ACHIEVEMENTS

  • In September, 1986, the first Scholarship Banquet was held honoring Dr. Barbara Carey, Commissioner of Metro Dade County who assisted in the establishment of the chapter.
  • In October 1997, the Chapter hosted its 11th Anniversary Scholarship Banquet which served to honor outstanding community leaders and to provide funds for college students in the transportation field.
  • In 2002, the chapter established a local scholarship trust fund.
  • In 2018, the chapter established a partnership scholarship with Florida Memorial University.
  • The chapter continues to award annual scholarships at the Charles W. George Scholarship Golf Tournament.

The Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) was created to provide a forum for minority professionals in the transportation industry. COMTO’s membership includes individuals, groups, transportation agencies, private sector corporations, non-profit organizations, and Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs).
